If you have set up a new website, you might
have just noticed that how hard it is to get listed to even
for the search word "site:www.yoursite.com" in google. It may
take days/weeks or months before you get listed. Google in its
guidelines to webmasters say, "you don't even need to submit
your site to Google" also it adds "In fact, the vast majority
of sites listed in our results aren't manually submitted for
inclusion, but found and added automatically when our spiders
crawl the web. ".
So how a website is found while crawling the web?. It is through
the links that are pointing to your site from other websites
that are known to google.
So who will link to a new site? Google says submit to directories
like Yahoo and DMoz. Both take its own time. I have been waiting
for 2 years to list few sites in Dmoz.
What is the alternative? Find few sites very well indexed in
google. Search "site:www.thatsite.com" in Google. www.thatsite.com
should be related to your website's field. Find few good sites.
Write a mail to the webmaster of that site, wether he can give
you a link for a price?
If you can get a deal through, it should be very easy for our
website to list fast in google.
What next? Till you get your desired rankings or till other
websites start linking to your pages (even internal pages) free
because you have great content, you need to slowely keep buying
these links. Never make huge purchases in a singe shot. Add
few links each month.
